The COVID-19 pandemic has caused New Yorkers stress, burnout and anxiety, and it may cause even more mental and emotional strain in the winter months. Below are some mental health resources that may help you protect your mental health during these challenging times.

NYC Well, created by ThriveNYC, has gathered a number of digital health resources and apps that are free for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. Click here to view the list. If you are having trouble coping and need to speak with someone, you can also text “WELL” to 65173, call 1-888-NYC-Well, or online chat with a counselor.

New Yorkers can also check out NY Project Hope, New York’s COVID-19 Emotional Support Helpline. Talking to a Project Hope Crisis Counselor is free, confidential and anonymous. Call the Emotional Support Helpline at  1-844-863-9314.

Additionally, check out this directory of COVID-19 Mental Health resources from the New York State Office of Mental Health, COVID-19 Mental Health and Substance Use resources from the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygeine, and Mental Health and Coping During COVID-19 tips from the CDC.

This is a difficult time for all, so take advantage of some other mindful practices to help your mental health. Check out some local yoga options and consider taking daily walks. Stay safe and remember to care for your mental health as well as your physical health during these difficult times.
